FISH & I VOTE……It will finally mean something!!
The Fishing Party (Qld) is the state branch of the federally registered “The Fishing Party” with its national executive in Singleton NSW.
We have formed with the intent of standing candidates for senate seats at the next federal election and in response to the increasing restrictions being placed on our sport and lifestyle by both sides of politics as they seek the support of green and minor parties in the senate.
It is no secret that much of the GBRMPA (RAP) programs, area closures in SE Qld and other fishing restrictions are driven by the WWF and other green lobbies.
With all political parties choosing to ignore the numbers involved in the sport of recreational fishing it has become necessary to remind Canberra in a way which they will notice, that recreational fishers make up some 20% of the entire population and contribute vast sums to the national economy.
We are totally dissatisfied with the current mindset of governments both at state and federal level and if they choose to continue to ignore our input we will take our message directly to the floor of the house.
This cannot be done without the support of the recreational fishing community, support both financially and by way of active input into policy formation. Membership of the party, for the cost of a block of pilchards or a good lure, will allow us to take the fight to Canberra and allow you, as a member, to actively help form policies, which help you retain your rights to continue enjoying the sport of recreational fishing.
All funds raised will be used by state and national executive for administrative and marketing purposes only. All members of both state and national executive are voluntary.
